During the course of my fall 2019 semester, I was tasked with choosing a topic of social interest and had to come up with a solution of change. The title of this semester-long research project was called "Design for Social Change". I decided to choose deforestation, as it's one of the major causes of global warming. I created research and development book that explains my whole process from start to finish. After the creation of my book, I created a website, which poses myself as a hypothetical nonprofit organization called the Rhode Island Forest Preservation Committee (RIFPC). The RIFPC dedicates their time and energy to generate awareness about deforestation. The RIFPC envisions a world where societies can come together and work towards a better future. We believe that if we educate people about the negative effects deforestation has on the environment, and provide possible solutions to the problem, the biodiversity in our ecosystems will thrive once more. Deforestation effects you, your neighbor, and millions of other people and species. Be informed about where sustainable products come from. While it's only one small step in this long process of becoming a completely eco-friendly world, one small step can create tremendous positive effects when taken by millions of people. Be the change. Help protect the environment against the devastating realities that it currently faces because of deforestation. (2019)
